Frequently Asked Questions

CQC Registration Process

  • What is the duration of the registration process?

The time it takes to complete the registration process depends on your familiarity with the sector and your level of preparedness. If you do not have your DBS, the process may take longer, as DBS results can take several weeks to be returned. Currently, the social care sector is in high demand, and while some applications are approved within a few weeks, others may take longer.

  • What are the costs associated with registration assistance?

To answer this question, we would like to know if you would like assistance with the entire process or prefer to select specific support services. Our pricing is dependent on the scope of your work. We offer various packages that can accommodate various needs and requirements.

Kindly contact our team for a detailed breakdown.

  • How can I initiate the registration process?

To begin the registration process, having your CQC-DBS in place is beneficial. Possessing a comprehensive or partially completed business plan will aid in understanding your business goals and objectives. Additionally, you will require an insurance quote, a financial viability statement, a staffing structure, and a training matrix.

Several application forms must be completed, including:

    Statement of purpose

    Registered manager application

    Provider application

    All other necessary policies

We can assist you throughout the entire process, depending on the level of support you require. We can complete all application forms or review your progress thus far.

CQC Compliance

  • How can I ensure compliance in my service?

To work towards compliance, a provider should:

Implement robust recruitment checks, ongoing staff training, and regular supervisions/competency checks.

Conduct risk assessments and develop comprehensive policies and procedures to ensure safety.

Establish quality assurance practices, such as auditing and gathering feedback from service users and staff, to inform and improve practices.

Implement safe systems for storing, using, and disposing of waste, hazardous substances, and medications, with supporting evidence.

Maintain secure and consistent record-keeping systems.

Always be open and honest when issues arise and report them to the CQC as needed. Submitting Provider Information Return (PIR) forms annually is also required to maintain compliance with the CQC, allowing them to plan inspections and assess your service's operations, changes, and adherence to the 5 Key Lines of Enquiry.

  • Why is compliance necessary for my service?

Providers, Registered Managers, and Directors must maintain compliance at all times. Service users require respectful, dignified treatment and protection from harm and abuse. Historical cases of inadequate care and safeguarding issues have informed current care standards, but there is always room for improvement. If the CQC finds your service non-compliant, it may be placed under special measures or even closed down. Ultimately, you should strive to provide the highest standard of care and support that you would want to receive.

  • What does compliance entail?

Compliance generally involves adhering to all legal, professional, and ethical standards in social care. This includes following rules, regulations, best practices, and UK legislation at all times. Health and social care service providers conducting regulated activities are subject to monitoring and inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The CQC assesses care providers based on five key areas:

Safety – Ensuring staff and service users are protected from harm and reside in safe environments.

Effectiveness – Evaluating whether care, support, and treatment achieve positive outcomes based on service users' needs, and whether staff are well-trained.

Leadership – Assessing the competence of the organization's management, promoting a culture of openness and honesty, striving for the highest quality of care and support, and encouraging staff learning and development.

Responsiveness – Determining whether the service is responsive to users' needs, organized, adaptive, and receptive to feedback, compliments, and complaints.

Caring – Evaluating whether staff treat service users with kindness, compassion, respect, and dignity.
